The EMS Bucephalus was an Akaga-class cruiser. Initially purchased by the human mercenary company Cartwright's Cavaliers, she was modified for ground assault by the commander of the Cavaliers, Col. James E. Cartwright, Sr. . She had fewer guns than the base class, more shields, and increased cargo capacity.
When Cartwright's Cavaliers declared bankruptcy, the Bucephalus was sold to the Winged Hussars. When the Cavaliers were once again on solvent, Alexis Cromwell, commander of the Hussars, sold her back to the Cavaliers.
