Laser Frigate

Laser Frigates are an uncommon variant of the standard frigate. Not surprisingly, given the name, laser frigates are armed almost entirely with lasers, usually including a spinal laser giving it greater firepower than most ships their size. Laser frigates often test the upper limits of that class of weapons capabilities, attempting to leverage the fact that shields are less effective watt-to-watt against light weapons than other energy weapons.
