Not one of the 37 recognized mercenary races in the galaxy, but they do qualify as a mercenary race. The Xlatan are a probationary race like Humans used to be.
They are quadrupedal and look like tigers except for a humanoid torso with two arms. They use their ears to express a variety of emotions. They can sprint extremely fast but their stamina can run out quickly.

They are the main antagonist in the novel "When Eagles Dare" by Doug Dandridge.
Their species is not seen widely throughout the galaxy because their homeworld is one of the core worlds. They have since been wiped out as a species while fighting the Kahraman at the Front. It is possible that pockets of them remain however.
