The Bakulu are a mercenary race in the Galactic Union.
They look like slugs, but are really snails. They can change shells, which are self-contained like spaceships. These shells make them more G-resistant than average. In zero-gee space they use puffs of air to move around.
They are also amphibious. They have nine tentacles, all of which can be used as hands, but all have some other function as well. Three have eyes, two have mouths, two are used for respiration, and two for excrement and reproduction.
They are known throughout the Union as incredible mechanics and decent pilots.
